"pornography" by the cure
under-appreciated by cure-heads and seemingly sidestepped by newbies, pornography represents the cure at their very best, and ultimately the furthest away from pop they would ever stray. desperate, primal, and altogether sinister, it's one of the 80's seminal albums.

"exploding head" by a place to bury strangers
their new record! tags: shoegaze, noise, post-punk. yeaaaaah.

Post-Rock Post-Post

Dreary days really put me in a post-rock mood, and since it's been raining for the better part of the last month, might as well post what I've been playing.

Sharks Keep Moving has been my favorite rainy day/night driving band for the last four years or so. With great off-time playing, sparse vocals perfectly placed, and all around fantastic instrumentation, it's really worth a listen. Jake from Minus the Bear is the vocalist of SKM, and he really does a great job.

Everything is Made in China kind of came out of nowhere for me. I was in some random chat where some dudes were talking about their first EP that they were really proud of, and linked it to everyone in the room. I downloaded it and was amazed with how damn good these dudes were. I asked them the obvious few questions, their name and where they were from. It ended up being EIMIC, a group of dudes from russia who just liked the music they played. Great melodies, fantastic vocals(english oddly enough) that aren't stressed but play into the overall song, and just an overall great sound.

Mexico 1910 is a very hard band to find, or get ahold of. Their EP doesn't have any album art, neither does their new album. I only have their EP but give me a day or so and I'll have their album, which is also a great listen. Their EP sounds like the darker heavier moments of Godspeed, with their own twist. They keep it interesting, and cut out all the fat and keep the delicious meat.

look down here vvvvvvv

Tinariwen-Imidiwan

New album from the finest African act making music today. Effff that Very Best shit, this here's the real deal. Easily one of the best albums this year. Nothing short of beautiful.

Silk Flowers-Silk Flowers

Upcoming stars from Brooklyn, sad to see so little love from our neck of the woods. This is an oddly unique album, very dark, very mysterious. Reminds me of the fantastic Teenage Panzerkorps but with synths.

Many Mansions-Return To Source

Wonderful worldly musings, like el guincho's first album, with a bit of high places and AC's sung tongs. lush sound scapes with tribal drums and chants. oh so excellent.
