I first became aware of Happy Hollows in 2007 when they were the Los Angeles support for Why? and I immediately noted them as a band to watch with their raucous, noise pop and exciting live performance. I picked up two of their EPs: SELF-TITLED from 2007 and BUNNIES & BOMBS from 2006. Since then, Happy Hollows have been cutting their teeth as featured support for bands as different as Deerhoof and Silversun Pickups and in 2008 they added a third EP IMAGINARY. These three EPs should be an excellent primer for their upcoming self-released debut LP, currently scheduled for September 2009. The most notable tracks here are the insanely catchy "Monster Room," "Vietnam," and "Tambourine" in which lead-singer Sarah Negahdari sings about romantic woes with a young Republican who looks like Billy Corgan.
The Three EPs (Bunnies & Bombs, Happy Hollows, Imaginary EP) are available below. Please support the artist if you enjoy them.
